APGA considers suspending Governor Charles Soludo, citing alleged anti-party activities and internal party conflicts.
Chukwuma Soludo, the governor of Anambra State, is being suspended by the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) for serious actions after it was alleged that she had participated in anti-party activities.
Chief Edozie Njoku, the National Chairman of the party, disclosed this development, claiming that the governor has been undermining the National Working Committee (NWC), which has been recognized by the Supreme Court and is entrusted with reestablishing peace within APGA.
At a news conference held at the Federal High Court in Abuja, Njoku stated his dissatisfaction with Soludo, charging that he persistently undermines initiatives meant to foster party unity.
Njoku emphasized that Soludo’s activities have harmed the party’s objectives, causing more instability and eroding the unity within the APGA.
They seem to think that the governor of Anambra State is more important than the party, and they are pushing us to the breaking point. Njoku emphasized that the NWC would not put up with any further infractions from the governor, saying, “No one is bigger than the party.”
Despite the internal disarray within the party, Njoku expressed further concern over Soludo’s participation in the next Anambra local government elections, which are set for September 28.

Njoku continued, “Charles Soludo needs to understand that he is a political figure, not an emperor,”
Edozie clarified that the identities of party members suspended for anti-party acts, including Governor Soludo of Anambra State, will be made public by the National Working Committee (NWC) on Thursday, September 26, 2024.
The national chairman made it clear that the party does not have a single candidate for the upcoming off-cycle governorship contest. Regarding Soludo’s prospects of winning the party’s primaries, he voiced doubt.
Edozie encouraged anyone who was considering running for Anambra State governor to do so and to join what he called a smooth and easy process.
“Recall that we recently left the Court of Appeal where a stay was applied to prevent me from being recognized by INEC, even though the Supreme Court explicitly stated that the removal of Chief Edozie Njoku as the national chairman of the APGA is not justiciable,” the statement reads.
They traveled to Awka and filed the lawsuit; however, the Awka judge, who was quite astute, quickly withdrew from it. Again, they appeared before the Federal High Court.
“They filed another behind our back, requesting an interim injunction behind the party’s national chairman’s back, the APGA’s back, and the Court of Appeal’s orders, which demanded that they enforce the judgment as pay or affirm the enforcement of the judgment, in accordance with the Buhari High Court.”
They moved forward in defiance of the APGA and INEC, who were extremely astute, and who have since stated that their statements are all untrue.
The Anambra local government elections are scheduled for the 28th, but it’s important to remember that Charles Soludo, the governor—I’m not sure what he knows—should be aware that this is a political system and not an emperor.
“He has moved forward to have a law prohibiting the party from fielding candidates passed by the House of Assembly.
“They went to the countryside and carried out an activity that was done in secret, gathering a group of individuals who were involved in anti-party actions.
As you can see, the entire NWC is present, and some people are getting kicked out of the celebration. You are aware that I have been advocating for peace since it is not in the party’s best interest for us to begin suspending senators from Abia, House of Assembly members, governors, and elected officials.
They are taking us to the absolute limit and think the Anambra State governor is more powerful than the party. Since no one is bigger than the party, it’s possible that they are taking advantage of my desire for tranquility and my will to hold onto beauty.
“You’ll recall that the BOT chairman stated that the NWC needs to act in order to avoid coming across as helpless bulldogs,” Edozie remarked.
“This is a political party, and APGA is here to stay,” he declared. We have an eighty percent agreement on who will be expelled from the party, including the governor. Should we really suspend our one and only governor, I wonder? But we have to act if he’s just playing along or trying to please people while letting sincere members participate in anti-party activities.
“We must take decisive action to address this situation. He continued, “I don’t know what Soludo’s goals are or what obstacles he will have to overcome, but he ought to connect himself with the party.
