Nnamdi Chude, a suspect who had tweeted anti-Angambra State governor Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, was detained by police in Anambra State on Saturday.

APGA, the party of Soludo, was allegedly implicated in the rigging of the House of Assembly election, according to a claim made on Twitter on Saturday by Chude, a staunch fan of the Labour Party.

He asserted that thugs stole vote boxes and that Soludo had a key role in the election manipulation. A previous governor named Dr. Chinwoke Mbadinuju, he said that such move will take Anambra back in time.

After being relocated to the state capital of Awka, Chude was later detained in Onitsha by police officers.

In the meantime, the governor of Anambra State’s press secretary, Mr. Christian Aburime, claimed that neither he nor the governor had any involvement in the suspect’s arrest or knowledge of his crime and that the suspect had been sent to Abuja on Sunday.

“One Mr. Nnamdi Chude was detained yesterday (18 March) in Anambra by the Cyber Crime Section of Interpol and transported to Abuja today (19 March),” Aburime stated. “The Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Police Command has verified to the Governor of Anambra State, Prof Chukwuma Charles Soludo, CFR.

There are no particular accusations or justifications for his detention, according to the government of the state of Anambra.

According to the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) preliminary results, Governor Soludo’s APGA won the majority of the state assembly seats in the state, followed by the Labour Party.
