In the recently held local government elections in Kebbi State, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has emerged as triumphant by clinching all 21 chairmanship positions and 225 councillorship seats.
On Sunday, Alhaji Aliyu Muhammad-Mera, the head of Kebbi State Independent Electoral Commission (KESIEC), declared that the APC had won all elections conducted on the previous day.

In addition, he stated the commission had confirmed the outcomes proclaimed by the individual Returning Officers at both district and precinct tiers.
It is noteworthy that the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) chose to boycott the elections before they were held, alleging that the KESIEC leadership was biased in favor of APC. This decision came as a result of their belief that both chairperson and commissioners of this commission had affiliations with ruling party.
According to observers, the election was conducted smoothly and as a result, APC’s dominance in the state’s political arena has been further strengthened by the election results.
