Prior to the upcoming local government elections in Benue State, the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, in the region has declared the initiation of the sale of Expression of Interest Forms for members interested in running for the positions of local government chairmen and councilors.

This announcement was made through a statement released in Makurdi on Monday by the Publicity Secretary, Mr. Daniel Ihonmu, urging those interested to acquire the Expression of Interest Forms from the State Secretariat of the party.

The statement outlined the fees required for the forms, stating that Chairmanship aspirants need to pay a non-refundable fee of N100,000 for the Expression of Interest Form and N200,000 for the Nomination form, while Councilorship aspirants are required to pay N50,000 for the Expression of Interest form and N100,000 for the Nomination form.

It was also mentioned that the Expression of Interest form for women running for both positions is free of charge, and interested aspirants must make the necessary payments into the party’s Zenith Bank account number: 122309580 in favor of APC Benue State chapter.

After payment, aspirants are instructed to contact the State Financial Secretary for a cash receipt and clearance at No. 75 JS Tarka Way, Makurdi, Benue State.

The Benue APC is currently facing internal conflicts, resulting in the formation of parallel Executives within the party in the state, with factions loyal to different leaders like the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, Senator George Akume, and the Benue State Governor, Rev Fr Hyacinth Alia.

Due to this ongoing crisis, the state secretariat of the party in Makurdi has been sealed by security agencies.
