APC Officially Embraces Senator Matthew Uroghide and Other Defectors
A two-time senator representing Edo South, Matthew Uroghide, along with other defectors, has officially pledged their loyalty to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Uroghide made his formal switch from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC during an event held in Benin City on Saturday.
After spending 13 years and three months in the PDP, Senator Uroghide expressed his joy in returning to the APC, a party he considers to be composed of seasoned politicians and leaders he trusts.
As a founding member of the APC, Uroghide stated his commitment to assisting in the party’s growth and supporting its candidates in the 2024 Edo governorship election.
The event also saw other politicians, such as former House of Representatives clerk Patrick Giwa and eight local government chairmen, formally joining the APC.
Notable APC figures like Senator Adams Oshiomhole were present to welcome the new members, with Oshiomhole acknowledging past mistakes and expressing his confidence in Uroghide’s capabilities.
Oshiomhole went on to appoint Uroghide as the director general of the party’s campaign team for the upcoming Edo State governorship election, a role that the former lawmaker graciously accepted.
