Ibinabo Joy Dokubo, the first female candidate for president in the history of the All Progressive Congress (APC), has urged the government of president-elect Asiwaju Bola Tinubu to put a greater emphasis on security and human capital development.
Ibinabo outlined how Nigeria’s socioeconomic development has been hampered by insecurity to media on Thursday in Abuja.
Ibinabo, who stressed the significance of security, remarked that a safe and dysfunctional country lacks an infrastructure and economic foundation and that it is hard to be really productive in the absence of security.
She said that until the issue of insecurity and young unemployment is addressed and brought to an absolute minimum, the nation’s economy would immediately experience a boom.
There can be no business without security, the APC leader said. Businesses will operate normally, employees will report to work, and kids will attend class if there is security.
“I also want him to concentrate on human capital development because you see young people on the street doing nothing because they lack the resources to start something,” the woman said.
The APC chieftain expressed her opinions over the APC leadership’s zoning decisions for the presiding officers at the 10th National Assembly, saying, “I know the Party is Supreme, but Equity, Fairness, and Justice are more Supreme than the Party. It would be preferable for the 10th Assembly to vote and put aside prejudice.
The winner is Akpabio. It would be beneficial if Akpabio led the national parliament and performed in the same manner as he did as a governor, but how can we assess him based on how he ran the NDDC? I think there’ll be an issue.
The former APC presidential candidate has said, however, that she is deserving of the position of minister since she has the necessary qualifications, has worked hard to get it, and wants Tinubu to be elected.
When Asiwaju expressed his intention in running for president, I resigned because Tinubu had a greater chance of winning the nomination. Because I’m still young and have many years ahead of me, I withdrew my interest, said Dokubo.
I am eligible to serve as a minister. both as a young person and as an APC leader in Rivers State. I am capable of it. I can contribute since I had a lot of preparations when I was a presidential candidate. I’m deserving of the ministry.
