APC in Bauchi State condemns Governor Bala Mohammed’s attack on President Tinubu, labeling his comments as divisive and unnecessary.
Governor Bala Mohammed has received criticism from the Bauchi State Chapter of All Progressive Congress, APC over his comments on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s policies.
The party linked the governor’s fury to the Supreme Court ruling that permitted financial independence for local governments throughout the country.
According to the APC, the ruling has put an end to Governor’s misuse of funds which he and his allies had been exploiting for their own benefit. This decision is viewed as having restricted his financial resources previously utilized for personal enrichment.
According to Obasanjonews.com, Mohammed from the major opposition party, PDP, has expressed disapproval towards the president’s actions following the #EndBadGovernance protests. He believes that his policies are causing immense hardships for people.
The party responded to the governor’s critique of Tinubu-led administration in a statement released on Saturday by Malam Saadu Umar, the Chairman of State APC Publicity Committee.

According to the statement, various projects implemented under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s leadership have led to notable advancements in both Nigeria’s economy and Bauchi State.
Mohammed was countered by Malam Saadu Umar who argued that challenges are unavoidable in every country.
He further stated that it is impractical for the governor to accuse President Tinubu of removing the fuel subsidy, a stance he endorsed while serving as a minister in former President Goodluck Jonathan’s government.
Despite the challenges, President Tinubu’s initiatives have resulted in positive outcomes. One of these policies has led to a considerable surge in Governor Mohammed’s monthly allocation.
As evidence, his administration has amassed more than N87.4 billion from January to June alone through the Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC), as stated in the statement.
President Tinubu contributed over N135.4 billion to state governments in December last year for the upliftment of poverty-stricken and susceptible citizens, as cited by APC. Moreover, an extra allowance worth N438 billion has been recently furnished against hunger outbreaks in Bauchi along with other states.
Governor Mohammed was accused by the party of mismanaging public resources, with claims that instead of implementing the newly mandated N70,000 minimum wage for Bauchi workers, he had spent more than 11.6 billion naira on a dubious financial consultant as at June this year. The same consultant received an additional payment of 9 billion naira last year according to reports made by said party.
Overhead costs for the governor’s office and residence have received over N33.5 billion, while neglecting to address workers’ welfare.
The governor was accused by the APC of distorting public spending priorities, as they believed that his emphasis on implementing flyovers instead of addressing pressing issues including payment of pensioners’ gratuities failed to address citizens’ needs.
Ultimately, APC implored President Tinubu and the National Assembly to strip governors of their oversight of local government council elections as they believe it is the sole approach in guaranteeing unfettered fairness during these electoral processes.
