Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar warns Edo voters that the APC has plunged Nigeria into hardship and urges them to vote wisely. Read his full statement.
An admonition has been issued by ex-Vice President Atiku Abubakar to the populace of Edo state, cautioning them against casting their ballot for any candidate from Alliance Progressive Congress during the impending gubernatorial election.
In a statement titled ‘The clear choice for a prosperous Edo State’ released on Wednesday via his X handle, Atiku disclosed this information.
He recommended that the voters of Edo choose change and emphasized that APC had abandoned governance ideals while disregarding the pleas of ordinary citizens.
“Reflecting on the immense power within our grasp, as good citizens of Edo State prepare to make their voices heard this Saturday, 21st September 2024,” he said.
Your vote holds the power to break free from detrimental governance and pave a new path for our cherished state. It is a valuable instrument of transformation that can bring about significant change.
The APC pretends to be a friend of the masses, but beneath their façade lies a dark reality. They have deceived innocent voters with enticing promises and exposed themselves as an organization motivated by power-hunger rather than concern for the welfare of citizens.
The governance ideals have been abandoned by them, turning a deaf ear to the pleas of ordinary individuals as they pursue their own self-centered desires. During their leadership tenure, Nigeria has tumbled into an unfathomable abyss of misery.
Millions are unable to acquire even the most basic necessities, such as food due to an unyielding pursuit of survival which has dulled the once exuberant essence of our nation. Poverty, despondency and insecurity have all been sown by this predicament.
“Our people are not succumbing to illnesses but rather, starvation prevails in this desolate reality. Our nation’s leadership has plummeted to its nadir; the APC’s actions have been self-serving instead of beneficial for citizens.”
The people who are genuinely dissatisfied have been silenced and persecuted for protesting, while the leaders of APC luxuriate in comfort with no regard for the nation’s struggles.
Despite the bleakness of the current situation, there remains a glimmer of hope in Edo State. Dr. Asue Ighodalo stands out as an exemplar of both principled ethics and astute foresight amidst this discouraging landscape. His campaign offers a promising road to recovery for his region – while the APC has stumbled, he stands steadfastly dedicated to serving with proficiency and sincere concern for citizens’ well-being.
Edo State residents, it’s time to utilize the authority bestowed upon you. Before casting your vote, evaluate whether APC has improved or worsened your living conditions. Undoubtedly, the answer is apparent.
By voting for Ighodalo, you can bring about a transformation in Edo State and at the same time send a clear message to all of Nigeria that we will not tolerate lies and selfish agendas from the APC.
The people have been let down by the APC for almost ten years. Despite condemning previous administrations’ fuel price hikes, they are currently overseeing a period where petrol costs exceed N900 per litre. Their callousness and indifference towards the suffering of ordinary citizens is unparalleled.
By casting your ballot for the APC, you will perpetuate misery, hunger and hopelessness. Edo State citizens must remain vigilant and refuse to be lured by hollow assurances from the APC. Selecting Dr Asue Ighodalo of PDP is not merely about voting; it’s a step towards redeeming our destiny.
We have the option to come together and uphold Governor Godwin Obaseki’s accomplishments while also forging a future filled with success, respect, and optimism. As we head towards Election Day this coming Saturday, let us join forces in our unwavering determination to enact essential change that is absolutely imperative.
“Cast your votes for Asue Ighodalo and welcome a new era in Edo State. The power lies within you, so exercise it judiciously.”
