Elected governors of the All Progressives Congress (APC) are bewildered by the purpose behind a scheduled nationwide protest from August 1 to August 10, 2024.
Following a private gathering of the Progressives Governors’ Forum (PGF) in Abuja, PGF leader and Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodimma declared that they were unsure about the reasons for their protest.
He urged all protesters to come together with them for discussion so that they could identify and resolve any problems amicably.
Uzodimma stressed the dedication of the forum in promoting national unity and enhancing Nigerians’ welfare by prioritizing job creation and prosperity.

He discouraged the intended protest due to apprehensions regarding security and jeopardized national cohesion, reasoning that “it would be unwise for any group or individuals to stage a demonstration at this time.”
The governor encouraged Nigerians to be patient, emphasizing that the government is taking action to ease current economic difficulties.
He highlighted continuing efforts towards resolving security challenges, addressing concerns regarding minimum wage nationally and securing food supply.
Given the multitude of challenges Nigeria is facing, including economic decline, political unrest and insecurity, Uzodimma cautioned against any group inciting chaos.
Encouraging nationalism, he appealed to the populace to embrace responsibility for their nation and collaborate towards its improvement. He emphasized that there is no other place they can call home except Nigeria.
