The persistent campaign for an interim administration has been labelled treasonous by the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF).
The forum asked all Nigerians to maintain their vigilance and to oppose any anti-democratic behaviour that might threaten the nation’s democracy.
Atiku Bagudu, the Chairman of the Forum and the Governor of Kebbi State, praised the Department of Security Service for uncovering the conspiracy, and he urged the agency to apprehend and bring charges against those responsible.
The statement read: “The Progressive Governors Forum noted the news release released by the Department of Security Service on the sad, condemnable, and treasonous behaviour of some undemocratic individuals who are campaigning for an interim government. Such agitation is condemned.

The forum noted the irony that some self-serving individuals are regrettably attempting to sabotage the nation’s democratic advancement following the presidential, national assembly, gubernatorial, and state assembly elections, in which all the major parties recorded varying successes and disappointments in different constituencies.
According to the statement, it was widely reported that the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and Labour Party (LP) decided to appeal Bola Tinubus APC’s victory in the presidential election to the Presidential Election Tribunal.
Tribunals have also been added to all 36 states of the Federation to give voters who took part in the different elections but are otherwise unsatisfied with the results the chance to contest the outcomes.
“We encourage all Nigerians to be watchful and to fight any anti-democratic behaviour that might threaten our democracy,” it said. Unfortunately, certain unpatriotic forces are nurturing the diabolical idea of an interim administration, which would mean reversing our country’s progress towards national democracy. Our country has done well in advancing democracy both in Nigeria and elsewhere on the African Continent.
Also, it praised Boss Mustapha, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation and Chairman of the Presidential Transitional Council, for his recent speech reiterating the federal government’s commitment to a smooth inauguration of a new president on May 29, 2023.
