The Chairman of the All Progressive Congress in Kano State, Abdullahi Abbas, has urged for the apprehension of former Kano State Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso, citing concerns about the state’s security. Abbas’s call came in response to accusations made by Kwankwaso, who alleged that the previous administration was involved in fostering Boko Haram militants and influencing the Federal Government to disrupt the state’s stability.

Kwankwaso made these claims while speaking at the commencement of an 85-kilometre road construction project in his hometown of Madobi. In light of this, Abbas has urged security agencies to detain the senator so that he can disclose the identities of those he accuses of undermining the state’s interests.

The chairman emphasised that no amount of intimidation from Kwankwaso would deter the federal government. He further expressed concerns about the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) and their alleged intentions to incite unrest in Kano. Abbas accused Kwankwaso of being a long-standing security risk due to his alleged involvement in recruiting young individuals, particularly school dropouts, to engage in violent activities in the state.

Additionally, Abbas claimed that since the controversial appointment of Sanusi Lamido Sanusi as emir, numerous armed individuals have been recruited and stationed at the emir’s palace, where illicit substances are openly sold, posing a threat to the safety of residents in the vicinity.
