APC Declares Non-Participation in Adamawa Council Poll
The All Progressives Congress (APC) chapter in Adamawa State has reaffirmed its intention to abstain from the local government poll that is scheduled for next month.
July 13, 2024 is the date set by the Adamawa State Independent Electoral Commission (ADSIEC) for the council election. The APC said that it would not be taking part in the election after first indicating that it was willing to do so.
The party’s youth branch declared on Saturday that it has filed a lawsuit against the state administration and the electoral commission to express its disagreement to the scheduled poll.

The alliance of APC youth organisations claimed in a statement signed by Khalil Sajo that they had taken the state government led by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to court “for hijacking the local government election process.”
The statement was released right away following the APC state leadership’s meeting with the Coalition of APC Support Groups at the party’s Yola state secretariat. It stated that they discussed abstaining from the election and decided that the party will not take part.
The press release emphasised that they could not overlook the irregularities and voiced complaints about a number of concerns, including the makeup of the Adamawa State Independent Electoral Commission.
