The upcoming Kogi Governorship Primary Election scheduled for April 14 will be conducted by the All Progressives Congress (APC) using a direct style of primary.

The party notified the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of its decision to use the direct primary route in a letter dated April 6, according to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

The letter, which was dated January 25 and was signed by the party’s Acting National Chairman, Abubakar Kyari, was made accessible to newsmen on Wednesday in Abuja.

We refer to our earlier letter dated January 25th, 2023, with reference number: APC/NHDQ/INEC/19/023/191, in part, as stated in the letter.

“Wherein we notified the commission of the primary election method for the conduct of the Kogi State Governorship Primary Election.

Nevertheless, it said, “Our great party, the APC, has reviewed the procedures for holding the Kogi governorship primary poll and has decided to employ the direct form of primary election rather than the indirect manner as previously announced.”

The letter stated that an Extraordinary Congress would convene to approve the candidate who received the most votes in the state’s primary election, which is slated for Saturday, April 15.

INEC had set the date of the Kogi governorship election for November 11.
