Abayomi Nurain Mumuni, a prominent member of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), has stated that it is premature for politicians to divert President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s attention with their aspirations to become president in 2027.

Politicians should not divert Tinubu’s attention at this crucial juncture, according to Mumuni, with what he called a political farce.

He said these things in a statement that Obasano News24 was able to see on Tuesday via his media assistant, Rasheed Abubakar.

According to information obtained by Obasanjo News24, the Forum of 2023 APC Presidential Candidates was officially launched on Monday in Abuja under the direction of former Zamfara governor Senator Ahmed Sani Yerima.

Yerima, the forum’s convener and acting chairman, stated in her speech that the major goal of the forum was to clear the path for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s 2027 quest for a second term.

However, Mumuni responded by cautioning lawmakers nationwide not to divert the president with such schemes.

Politicians should refrain from pursuing the 2027 aim, Mumuni said, pointing out that it is not what the nation needs right now.

He expressed regret about certain lawmakers forcing the president to run for a second term after less than a year in office.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has since moved on from the 2023 election, according to Mumuni. It appears that he is currently preoccupied with leading and keeping his pledge to give the people new hope. We are aware of how difficult these things may be, therefore at this crucial juncture in our country’s history, the President shouldn’t be sidetracked by political pranks.

“It is premature to establish a forum for politics in 2027. We are all aware that this is only a smokescreen used by the previous contenders for the presidency to get special treatment from the President. He shouldn’t be distracted by them. If their motivation is genuinely patriotism, they ought to assist President Tinubu in his endeavours by improving the lives of the public and their respective states’ economies.

“It is absurd that those in need of counsel want to serve as advisors to the president. They’re all just political ploys. Right now, that is not what our dear nation needs. The President’s cabinet already has an adequate number of advisors.

“The past contenders for president would be well advised to consider the disparities that exist throughout the nation’s sectors and use their positions as statesmen to address them. They are able to do this silently. Private individuals who do not hold political office make significant contributions to our nation and its citizens.

“If this charade is accepted, I fear that groups of former ministers, special assistants, and other individuals may attempt to swarm the Aso Villa under the guise of fulfilling advisory roles.”
