APC Chairman Steps Down: Uzodinma says there is no issue in our party
Uzodimma reassured that efforts are being made to use the money earned from the Federation Account wisely in response to the recent withdrawal of the fuel subsidy and its impact on the nation’s finances.
Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State has denied rumours that the All Progressives Congress (APC), the party in power, is experiencing a crisis that prompted Senator Abdullahi Adamu to step down as party chairman.
After a private meeting with APC governors, Uzodinma, the chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum, addressed the media and declared that the party was still unified and that all parties were cooperating for the benefit of the APC and the nation as a whole.
Uzodimma acknowledged the National Chairman and National Secretary’s resignations were voluntary and thanked them for their contributions to the party while endorsing their choices.
He also said that the party’s leadership had accepted their resignations and named an acting chairman and acting secretary in their place.
Uzodimma gave the assurance that efforts were being made to use the money generated from the Federation Account in a way that benefits the populace, labour, and the economy in response to the recent withdrawal of the gasoline subsidy and its effects on the nation’s finances.
Additionally, he said that actions were being done to alleviate the current difficulty brought on by the rise in the cost of living and the costs of food and fuel products. The subnational and federal governments are working together to find answers.
Uzodimma stressed that there was no party crisis when asked about the constitutionality of the caretaker and acting committees. He asserted that the party easily won the most recent election and voiced optimism about its prospects in the subsequent vote.
The Deputy National Chairman and Deputy National Secretary from the same zone take over in accordance with the party’s constitution in the absence of a substantive National Chairman and National Secretary, respectively. The party’s succession plan, according to Uzodimma, was in place and working properly.
He emphasised that the conference ended with guarantees of party cohesion and a commitment to keep pushing for the advancement and prosperity of the APC.
