The All Progressives Congress, APC, chairman, Saleh Idris, 56, has been detained by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Roni Local Government Area on charges of raping and impregnating his housemaid.
The Jigawa State Command of the NSCDC’s spokesman, CSC Adamu Shehu, confirmed the arrest in a statement to the media.
He claimed that the suspect was apprehended on Wednesday as a result of a report made by the victim’s brother that the suspect had raped and impregnated his sister, a 14-year-old housekeeper working at the suspect’s home.
“The case was reported at NSCDC Roni LGA Division after a failed agreement reached at the Hisbah office on taking responsibility,” the victim’s brother said in a report. Rather, he was urging the family to have the pregnancy terminated.

“The victim’s first interaction with the suspect occurred when he gave her a drink while his wife wasn’t home, which caused her to pass out and revealed that he knew about her sexually.
The unsavoury trend continued regularly without her notifying anybody until pregnancy emerged. “When the victim regained consciousness, he threatened her not to tell anyone or risk losing her monthly allowances.
According to CSC Adamu, the suspect refuted the accusations during questioning, and the case has been brought before a judge.
He claimed that the case violates section 3 of Jigawa State’s Violence Against Persons (Prohibition) Act and is punishable by that Act.
