Kano State’s governorship is now being fiercely contested between the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).

In the gubernatorial results thus far given by the Independent National Electoral Commission, however, NNPP has reportedly managed to climb back to the top.

The ruling APC edged out the opposition party, which had taken the lead when collation started on Sunday, by a little margin when the procedure was halted for an hour break.

Nasir Gawuna of the APC was in second place with 3,037 votes when the collation process resumed with the 20th Local Government Area, according to Abba Kabir Yusuf of the NNPP.

With 342,698 votes, Gawuna fell behind Yusuf, who received 345,735.
