APC Alleges Gov Yusuf Behind Kano Protests, Demands Investigation
APC accuses Gov Yusuf of orchestrating violent protests in Kano, urging a comprehensive inquiry into the allegations.
According to the All Progressives Congress (APC), they did not orchestrate the violent protests in Kano. Instead, it has been alleged that these demonstrations were funded by Governor of Kano State with a motive to discredit President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
On Thursday, Mr. Edwin Olofu, the APC National Chairman’s Chief Press Secretary, issued a statement revealing that credible intelligence suggests Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s administration directly sponsored the protests leading to violence and bloodshed.
Olofu expressed serious distress over a governor who would provoke such unrest in his own state, putting innocent citizens’ lives and properties at risk.
Our denouncement is forceful towards this careless and thoughtless deed that appears to focus on the turbulence of Kano, spoil regional harmony, and deface our President’s honorable reputation.
The APC has urged the Federal Government to commence an expeditious inquiry into accusations of Kano State Government’s participation in the event.
To avoid potential dangers for other states, it is crucial to hold the responsible parties accountable for their violent actions. This was emphasized in the statement made.

Baseless and absurd claims that protesters looted sensitive documents related to the ongoing supposed corruption trial of former Governor Abdullahi Ganduje were also dismissed by the party.
Olofu expressed disbelief at the Kano State government’s claim that protestors had broken into a court and deliberately removed documents pertaining to the trial of the APC National Chairman. He deemed such allegations as laughable, suggesting they are merely efforts by the state government to evade responsibility for their involvement in violent activities.
In addition, he expressed disapproval towards the state government’s perceived inadequacy in handling security and legal matters. He raised doubts about how essential papers could have been confiscated during a demonstration.
It was emphasized that Governor Yusuf had publicly urged citizens to protest shortly before they erupted. However, it appeared that those who were enlisted by the state to organize and direct the demonstration caused it to spiral out of hand.
Governor Yusuf was urged by the APC to acknowledge the significance of his statements and deeds, with a focus on their possible implications for the state.
The authorities have requested the people of Kano to maintain their composure and adhere to the law during investigations, as communicated by the party.
The APC restated its dedication to advancing peace, justice, and good governance across the country in conclusion.
