Lamidi Apapa, the leader of the Labour Party’s wing, has stated the terms on which he will accept Bola Tinubu’s invitation to serve as the nation’s next president.
On Thursday, Apapa stated on Arise TV that he would only meet with Tinubu with the party’s approval.
“I will check with the party executive before honoring him, so if they instruct me to proceed, I will comply. If the executive gives the go-ahead, then that becomes our stance.
“I won’t be taking that post. If they state that you should go meet him or that we would do so, that becomes their position and not Alhaji Bashiru Lamidi Apapa’s position.
“We’ll all visit him together, I’m sure of it. That means, if we get the house’s approval, that we will see him, he added.
The factions loyal to Apapa and Julius Abure got into a battle on Wednesday at the Presidential Election Petition Court in Abuja, giving the leadership crisis roiling the Labour Party a new twist.
Abure’s position as the national chairman of the Labour Party had been suspended by the Federal High Court in Abuja.
