The head of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has stated that Iran will not leave any threat from the US unanswered.
This comes after US President Joe Biden announced that he had formulated a response to an attack on American troops in Jordan. Biden did not disclose the specifics of his planned response, but he held Iran responsible for the deaths of three US soldiers in the attack, stating that Iran supplies weapons to the militants involved.
Major General Hossein Salami emphasized that Iran has already been tested and will not let any threat go unanswered.
He also mentioned that Iran is not seeking war but is not afraid of it either. Iran’s envoy to the UN, Amir Saeid Iravani, issued a similar warning, stating that Iran will decisively respond to any attack on the country, its interests, and its nationals.
While Tehran denies orchestrating the attack on US troops, the Iranian Foreign Ministry clarified that the Shiite militias in Iraq and Syria operate independently and do not take orders from Iran.
This incident marks the first time American troops in the region have been confirmed killed by enemy fire since the Israel-Hamas war began in October.
