Germany’s far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) party has emerged in second place in the latest elections, according to exit polls. Read more on the political shift and its implications.

According to the state broadcaster ARD, the right-wing party is expected to receive 19.5% of the vote, while the Christian-Democrats are anticipated to lead with 29%.

The Alternative for Germany (AFD), a right-wing party, is expected to secure second place with 19.5% of the vote in Sunday’s snap elections, as per an exit poll released by state broadcaster ARD. The Christian-Democrat alliance CDU/CSU is projected to win first place with 29%, according to the broadcaster’s findings.
