Anti-Graft Agency Arrests Kwankwaso, Perm Sec, ALGON Chairman

The Anti-Graft Agency has arrested Kwankwaso, the Permanent Secretary, ALGON Chairman, and others in connection with an alleged fraud. Get the details here.

Garba Musa Kwankwaso, who happens to be the nephew of Dr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso- NNPP Presidential candidate has been taken in custody by The Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission along with other high-ranking officials such as Permanent Secretary at Ministry of Local Government and Chairman for ALGON (Kano chapter), on charges related to fraudulent drug supply across 44 local government areas.

Earlier, the agency selected Alhaji Mohammed Kabawa – who is the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs in their state- due to his supposed involvement in a multi-billion Naira drug supply scandal. They subsequently proceeded to detain other individuals implicated in this alleged transaction.

The commission has also apprehended Abdullahi Bashir, the Chairman of ALGON’s state branch and Tauroni LGA.

The accused were charged with collusion in granting the Contract to Novomed Pharmaceuticals, which involved providing pharmaceuticals to 38 local government areas within the state and contravened protocols for public procurement.

The Commission’s initial probe discovered that Novomed received N9.1 million from each of the 38 local governments for drug procurement, but no drugs were delivered.

In addition to that, OBASANJONEWS discovered that Musa Garba Kwankwaso, who is the Managing Director of Novomed and a nephew of Sen. Rabiu Kwankwaso, was taken into custody as well.

According to reports, every suspect is reportedly providing cooperation to the investigative team of the commission.

Confirming the arrests, Kabiru I. Kabiru – The Public Relations Officer of the commission mentioned that investigations are still underway.

According to Kabiru, the commission is putting in efforts to expose the complete magnitude of the fraud and hold those accountable for it.

At the time this report was filed, he verified that the suspects were in custody of the commission.
