Another young individual from Sokoto State has been arrested by the Department of State Services (DSS) in relation to the upcoming #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria demonstrations.
Omoyele Sowore, a human rights activist and #RevolutionNow initiator, demanded the prompt release of A. O. Yusuf – a young person detained by authorities. As reported in SaharaReporters on Thursday, Sowore verified that Yusuf was arrested for the upcoming nationwide demonstrations related to his post on X platform.
According to Sowore’s update, @DEGEO7, a proactive resident from Sokoto has apparently been taken forcefully by the @OfficialDSSNG and he urges for his prompt release with the hashtag #FreeYusuf.
Recently, the DSS has intensified their focus on individuals affiliated with protests. They previously apprehended Aliyu Sanusi in Sokoto for reportedly disseminating #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria protest paraphernalia; however, he was subsequently set free.
Bashir Abubakar was apprehended in Kano for his involvement in the planned protests against economic hardship and subsequently detained. He was later released.
The DSS is still cracking down on Nigerian youths who are supporting the nationwide protest set for August 1-10, despite releasing Sanusi and Abubakar.
