On Sunday, a three-story structure that was still being built fell on Ladipo Oluwole Street in Lagos State’s Apapa neighborhood.
According to Mukaila Sanusi, Deputy Director of Public Affairs, the Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA) has sealed the property.
The representative claimed that the developer disregarded the organization’s “Stop work and Seal up orders” and continued with construction.
Sanusi revealed that the event immediately led to preliminary investigations that revealed cops had issued several violation notices.
“The developer continued building without seeking help from the authorities. No casualties have been reported, and the LASBCA has assumed control of the site, he pointed out.
Sanusi claimed that this most recent collapse, like others of a similar nature, serves as further evidence of the need for all stakeholders to act responsibly.
The agency also stated that the Lagos Government has started more investigations into the collapse to determine the specifics and direct the necessary course of action.
After visiting the scene of the April 12 collapse on Banana Island, Ikoyi, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu visited Apapa 24 hours later.
