Angola has stated that it is prepared to strengthen its bilateral relationship with Nigeria.

During his visit to Nigeria on Wednesday in Abuja, Téte António, the foreign minister of Angola, informed the OBASANJO NEWS24 of this.

António was in Nigeria to convey Joo Lourenço, the president of Angola, to President Bola Tinubu an invitation to the regular bilateral and multilateral consultations of African leaders scheduled to take place in November in the country of Southern Africa.

When António visited with Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Yusuf Tuggar, he learned that Tinubu had received Lourenço’s communication via Tuggar.

“I am unsure of the contents of the writing, but I spoke with my counterpart. We discussed the bilateral ties between Nigeria and Angola.

“We talked about how we’d like to strengthen the diplomatic ties between our two nations in terms of the collaboration already in place, including the legal institutions we’ve signed in the past.

Both nations will be able to “see how we are implementing them and to see which new ones we have and can bring in again” as a result of this.

Additionally, it will provide guidance on “how to foster an environment that will encourage businesspeople to participate in the bilateral ties between Angola and Nigeria.”

We discussed the peace and security situations in the Sahel and other regions, including Central Africa, the Great Lakes, and Sudan, as ministers of foreign affairs and external relations.

He mentioned these issues as challenges for the continent, along with recent constitutional changes in Gabon and West Africa.

The discussion, according to him, focused on multilateral issues and ways that both nations could support one another in Angola-Nigeria multilateral systems.

“Considering the excellent relationship between our two nations, it is our responsibility as ministers of foreign affairs to strengthen ties.

We also talked about how to involve everyone in Angola and Nigeria’s diplomatic relations, including the business community, rather than just diplomats and politicians.

“We have a very strong Nigerian economy in Angola, and they are making significant contributions to the country’s recovery from a 27-year civil war.

“We will undoubtedly collaborate closely to ensure that we can more easily address issues like the community of business-to-business visas.

The joint commission was discussed today; this is where we go to review everything, as well as for the business forum between Angola and Nigeria, he said. “Sure, in our next meeting we will plan,” he added.

The envoy promised to create a setting that would be conducive to business community interaction and encourage people to learn more about one another’s national interests.

However, the Angolan minister allayed concerns that a language barrier might prevent communication between the two nations.

We can always find a language to speak in common, and language is what binds people together, he said.
