While one of the suspected suspects was neutralised, the Anambra Vigilante Group (AVG) has freed four people who were allegedly kidnapped in Onitsha.
According to a source who told the Daily Post about this, the AVG found three of the kidnappers’ vehicles, along with an AK-47 weapon and a pistol.
The rescue effort, according to the source, occurred on Wednesday between 8:30 and 9 p.m. in two separate operations in Onitsha.
Mr. Theo Eze, a resident of Onitsha, confirmed the veracity of a popular video showing the victims being rescued that had gone viral on social media. AVG agents caught up with the men, saved the victims they were carrying, and murdered one of them.
Some well-known locals have donated money to reenergize Onitsha’s security system in order to prevent an overreliance on the police because of the nature of crime in the commercial city.
What you observe in that video is the result of the AVG’s strengthening, according to the author.
In the viral recordings, the victims identified themselves as coming from several locations, including the Abba and Neni communities in Anambra and Urualla in Imo State for one victim.
At the time this story was filed, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, the public relations officer for the state police command, could not be reached for comment.
