According to the Anambra State Police, they have placed their agents in key locations throughout the state to foil any attempts to carry out the strike that the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has called for.

The command stands with the federal government, which has declared the strike to be illegal, and will do everything in its power to thwart its enforcement, including any attempt by dishonest elements to hijack the enforcement and cause a breach of peace, according to a press release issued by the state command’s spokesperson, SP Tochukwu.

“The Federal Government has declared the planned strike by the Nigerian Labour Congress to be illegal and premature,” Ikenga stated in the release.

“The Anambra State Police Command urges caution to prevent a breach of public safety and peace and reiterates the command’s commitment to enforce the legal recommendations.”

In order to prevent miscreants from taking advantage of the chance to jeopardise public safety and peace in the state, police officers have been sent to several critical locations.

“The Command highlighted the significance of adhering to the current regulations governing such operations, while acknowledging organised labor’s right to participate in such actions to speak for the interests of all workers.

“To this aim, the command urges the law-abiding, watchful, and security-conscious good people of the state to go about their legitimate businesses.”

The command requested that citizens of the state report any security-related incidents via their helplines in order to receive a timely response.
