Anambra police have detained an individual suspected of being involved in child trafficking. Read about the details of the arrest and its implications.
A gang member who participated in the transport of children between 13 and 16 years old to nearby countries including Benin Republic and Ghana has been apprehended by the Anambra Police Command.
CP Nnaghe Obono Itam has expressed increasing worries about the disappearance of individuals, particularly in Okpoko and Onitsha. As a result, an arrest was made.
As per Ikenga Tochukwu, spokesperson for the command, in response to these concerns raised, a specific operation was carried out by the police.

Afterwards, a victim from Accra, Ghana was safely retrieved and given debriefing. The captured suspect is currently undergoing interrogation at the Awka State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID).
The investigation is persistently striving to save more victims and uncover further participants of the trafficking syndicate. The authorities are relentlessly making efforts towards tackling this issue, with a view to curb any future occurrences of child trafficking in the area.
