In Egbu Umuenem, Otolo Nnewi, Nnewi North Local Government Area of Anambra State, a builder named Chizoba Aniefuna and his two sons perished as a result of a one-story building collapse.
A relative of the builder who was also trapped inside the structure was rescued and taken to St. Felix Hospital in Nnewi.
According to Anambra State Chairman of Council for Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria, COREN, Engr. Victor Meju, in response to the terrible incident, subpar materials and a lack of regulatory authority permission were to blame for the disaster.
As he had ordered the seal-off of the collapse site, he mentioned that Chukwunafu Anamanjo, the building’s owner, would be contacted for interviewing purposes to assist with the inquiry.
