Igbo Indigenes Without Boundary, a socio-cultural organisation, has pleaded with Bola Tinubu, the incoming president, to get involved in the legal situation involving Ike Ekweremadu, the former deputy president of the Senate.

At a press conference held on Friday in Abuja, Dr. Bernard Oshi, the group’s president, made the request.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Ekweremadu and his wife Beatrice were found guilty of organ harvesting by the United Kingdom Central Criminal Court in London.

Oshi also urged Tinubu and the upcoming 10th National Assembly to investigate the situation humanely and persuade the British government to balance justice and mercy.

In a similar vein, he urged diplomats to assist Ekweremadu, particularly those from the United Nations, the United Kingdom, and the United States of America.

He said that the organisation, acting in its capacity as a caring institution, has been keeping a close eye on Ekweremadu’s stellar public and private service record as a lawyer, philanthropist, politician, and patriot.

“The Ekweremadu paternal instinct to care for his ailing daughter, even at the painful expense of needing to find a kidney donor, is not the kind of crime that should be left to a guy to handle on his own.

Oshi used the press conference to congratulate the recently elected or re-elected governors, state assembly members, Sen. Kashim Shettima, and President-elect Tinubu.

He praised President Muhammadu Buhari for his leadership and dedication to maintaining national unity, particularly throughout the course of the previous challenging years.
