On Thursday night along the Ibadan/Abeokuta route, a fully loaded tanker wrecked havoc at the Apata intersection (opposite the Oando filling station).
It was discovered that the tanker, which was reportedly leaving the NNPC area, lost control, slammed into several stores across from the filling station, and then caught fire.
At the time this report was written, it wasn’t clear how many people had died in the accident.
Additionally, some nearby structures were believed to have been affected by the fire.
A few minutes after the fire began, Oyo State Fire Department personnel arrived on the scene.
Oyo Police spokesman Adewale Osifeso, who verified the incident, said the Division Police Officer (DPO) in the area has dispatched operatives to the spot to avert a break down of law and order, adding further updates would be provided shortly.
