A DSS employee named Abiodun stabbed estate agent Dele Omosola in the thigh while he was working in Osogbo’s Tinumola neighbourhood.
An disagreement between Omosola, the agent, and Abiodun, a DSS employee, over the latter’s failure to pay his energy bill for the month of August is said to have led to the incident, according to information obtained by OBASANJO NEWS24, which reportedly happened on Tuesday night.
According to an eyewitness who wished to remain anonymous, “the agent approached the DSS personnel, who lived in a block he is managing on Tuesday night, inquiring about his failure to offset his electricity bill; the issue resulted in a tense argument with people demanding to know his means of livelihood.
The victim was stabbed by Abiodun after the DSS employee, who was leaving work, allegedly left the scene but the senior agent insisted he must respond to questions. This sparked a brawl.
Kola Adejoyin, another resident, claimed that “the DSS guy walked into his flat, took a jack-knife and stabbed the agent.
“We treated the man in the hospital and called the police about the situation.
Nevertheless, a few DSS agents detained the guy and pledged not to hand him over to the authorities.
When describing his incident, the victim said that he had just requested the DSS employees for help paying the power bill; but, instead of giving them the money, he had entered the room with a jack-knife and stabbed the employee.
He had promised to pay, but when I asked him to pay yesterday (Tuesday), he went inside, returned with a jack-knife, and attacked me, the man claimed.
It was a case of two fighting, according to a source in the DSS.
The life of the staff was also in danger, he said.
He stated that the estate agent and other tenants banded together against him and that the DSS worker was attacked and is currently being held for participating in a public brawl.
I can confirm that the staff member was involved in a public brawl and is currently being held in custody.
However, the victims and other tenants banded together against him merely because they were unaware of his position and his movements, risking his life right now.
He made the decision to stab the powerful attacker in the thigh since he was outmatched and wanted to protect himself from him.
In addition, the incidence has been confirmed by the Osun State Police Command.
