It is believed that the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has narrowed down their options to three coaches for the position of the next head coach of the Super Eagles.
The shortlist includes Emmanuel Amunike, Domenec Torrent, and Antonio Conceicao. According to Solace Chukwu, the site coordinator of AfrikFoot NG, it is surprising that these three candidates are considered the best, suggesting that the pool of applicants may not have been very impressive.
Chukwu further analyzes the strengths and weaknesses of each candidate, stating that Conceicao has the strongest merit, while Amunike has limited recent experience and Torrent has limited success and experience as a head coach or in international football.

Amunike, the only local coach on the shortlist, has had success coaching Nigeria’s U17 team and leading Tanzania to the Africa Cup of Nations. However, his record with other clubs and teams has been less impressive.
Conceicao, who previously managed Cameroon, achieved a third-place finish at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.
Torrent, a former assistant to Pep Guardiola, has worked closely with him throughout his coaching career and has also had experience coaching in MLS and leading Galatasaray.
It is believed that Torrent is a favorite among NFF board members. The question arises whether the football house has an obsession with foreign coaches, as it seems to be the case.
