Sporting CP manager Rúben Amorim disclosed that Manchester United turned down his offer, shedding light on potential moves and negotiations with the English club.
Ruben Amorim, the new manager of Manchester United, disclosed that his proposal to join the Red Devils at season’s end was turned down.
Manchester United paid Sporting approximately £10.6 million to secure the services of the Portuguese, which included additional payments for releasing him from his 30-day notice period.
Amorim will assume control of United on November 11, after completing his responsibilities at his current club.
He will lead the Premier League club for the first time in a match against Ipswich on November 24.
However, Amorim has now disclosed that Manchester United declined his initial request to join the club at the end of the season.
Amorim reportedly said, as quoted by Fabrizio Romano, “I inquired with Man United about joining at the end of the season.”
“It was what I desired, but Manchester United declined. It was a now-or-never situation.”
“So I had to make a decision, and I said yes,” mentioned — through @PortuGoal1.
