The Nigerian economy has received assurance from US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken regarding the willingness of American companies to partner with and invest in the country.

During his visit to President Bola Tinubu in Abuja, Blinken emphasized the readiness of American entrepreneurs and companies, particularly in the tech sector, to collaborate and invest in Nigeria.

He highlighted the involvement of tech giants that have joined forces with Nigerian partners to support President Tinubu’s initiative of creating one million digital jobs. Blinken also mentioned the efforts of American tech entrepreneurs in nurturing Nigeria’s start-ups and the contribution of venture capital companies in financing them.

Additionally, he expressed American firms’ commitment to expanding internet access in Nigeria and their desire to work in partnership to drive the country’s tech revolution.

Despite acknowledging the challenging business environment in Nigeria, Blinken believes that the country offers significant opportunities for real investors.

He emphasized the importance of addressing corruption and improving the ease of repatriating capital as crucial factors in attracting foreign investments.

President Tinubu, who has implemented reforms such as ending fuel subsidies and freeing up the naira currency, has called for patience to allow these measures to have a positive impact on the Nigerian economy.
