Ambush on an Enugu police patrol, gunmen kill an ASP and an Inspector
According to OBASANJO NEWS24, two police officers were allegedly murdered in Enugu State by unidentified assailants.
The criminals assaulted a mobile police patrol team on Wednesday night, killing the cops.
The Operation Restore Peace Enugu squad was on a normal patrol when the incident occurred at around 7:30 p.m. along the Udi-Ozalla Road.
The victims were identified as Inspector Abu Elamaje and Danjuma Joseph, an ASP.
The source revealed that they were brought to the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital (UNTH) Ituku-Ozalla for treatment, but the on-duty doctors there confirmed they had passed away.
Inspector Udeme Udomeng, a different officer, was treated and released after suffering gunshot wounds.
A command source was quoted by the Daily Sun as saying that “MINE and other command tactical teams reinforced at the scene of incident on cordon and search operation for possible arrest of suspects. Updates must be shared.
It is unknown if the officers were killed by the kidnappers who have been on the loose in various parts of the State or by another group of hoodlums.

The state’s whole security system has to be updated, according to the apex Igbo group.
OBASANJO NEWS24 made several calls to Enugu State Police Command’s DSP Daniel Ndukwe, the PPRO, but was unable to reach him.
As of the time this complaint was filed, he had not yet responded to a text message that was sent to him.
