Former governor of Rivers State Rotimi Amaechi has said that, given the current political climate in the state, he will neither be supporting Governor Nyesom Wike or Governor Siminalayi Fubara.
During a Friday visit to Hon. Okorinama West, a prominent member of the All Progressive Congress (APC), at his private residence in Port Harcourt, Amaechi made this declaration.
The public’s outcry against Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Wike was credited by the previous minister of transportation with Governor Fubara’s rise to popularity.
In addition, he made remarks on the state’s political climate, implying that certain lawmakers who had previously backed him were abandoning their positions in favour of their own.

Young supporters were also urged by Amaechi to actively participate in forming the state’s leadership.
“I can’t stand and join either Sim or Wike,” he murmured. I’m not going to follow Sim or Wike.
“But remember, they wouldn’t be as big without you people, I hope you understand that.”
“What Sim believes is popular today is because he is anti-Wike,” he continued. Not that Sim is the greatest man alive, but rather his popularity. It’s because the state is sick of Wike and because he opposes Wike.
