Minister of Interior Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo did not attend the scheduled interview with the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) on Tuesday, January 16. Instead, he sent a letter to the Bureau requesting a different date for the interview.

The reason provided in the letter was that the minister had a prior formal appointment that he needed to attend to. It has been revealed that New Planet Projects Limited, a company allegedly linked to the minister, received a consultancy contract worth about N438 million from the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs.

This contract is part of an ongoing investigation into the suspicious spending of N3 billion by the Ministry under the supervision of the now suspended Minister, Dr. Betta Edu. Tunji-Ojo claims to have resigned as a director of the company in 2019 when he was elected to the House of Representatives, leaving the management in the hands of his wife.

However, the invitation to the minister was to provide evidence that he is no longer involved in the company’s activities and to review his asset declaration form with a team of investigators.
