A committee consisting of seven members has been established by Dr. Peter Mbah, the governor of Enugu State, to conduct an investigation of the Enugu State College of Education Technical (ESCET).
The committee’s mandate was stated by Governor Mbah, who was represented by Prof. Chidiebere Onyia, Secretary to the State Government, as follows: “to investigate grave allegations of mismanagement and corrupt administrative practises in the management of the institute and its Governing Council; to thoroughly investigate the alleged fraud involving Bluetag Technologies, a financial firm contracted to collect fees for the college with unresolved issue of over N84 million; to ascertain the veracity of the alleged undue recruitment process and probe the subsequent increase in the college’s monthly subvention; and to provide recommendations based on their findings regarding the appropriate measures and actions to address the government.”

The panel, which includes Prof. Ndubueze Mbah, the Commissioner for Education, Prof. Obiamaka Egbo, Dr. Emma Onyeabor, Edmund Ngene, Larry Oguego, and Rev. Fr. Ikechukwu Ani as members, was requested to conduct a credible investigation and provide pertinent suggestions.
We anticipate that committee members will apply their expertise to this task and offer the governor the best recommendations possible, ensuring that Enugu’s model and method for teaching and learning are of the highest calibre.
“Consequently, this committee is expected to conduct a thorough investigation, dissect the problems pertaining to each of these accusations, and offer recommendations in light of your conclusions,” he declared.
Speaking on behalf of the committee, Mbah, the chairman, thanked the governor for appointing them to the task and assured him that they would do their utmost to complete the report according to the deadline.
Two weeks are allotted to the committee to turn in its report.
