Abubakar Mani, also known as Sadi, and his family members managed to escape from a violent mob attack in Sabon Garin Alhaji Yahuza village of Batagarawa local government area in Katsina State. The attack was triggered by accusations of blasphemy against the Islamic faith made by Mani through a Facebook post.

Unfortunately, the mob proceeded to burn down Mani’s house, along with his vehicle, on Tuesday night. In response to this disturbing incident, the Katsina State Police Command has issued a statement urging calm and emphasizing the importance of abiding by the law.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Aliyu Abubakar Musa, has held meetings with the State’s Commissioner for Religious Affairs, traditional and religious leaders, and other stakeholders to address the situation. The Command has assured the public that they are actively investigating the incident and working to apprehend those responsible.

They have also called upon religious leaders and their followers to promote peace and act as ambassadors of peace in society. The Command remains dedicated to maintaining peace, upholding the law, and ensuring the safety of all citizens in the state.

The Commissioner of Police (CP) has highlighted that additional measures have been taken to enhance security in the area. These measures include an increase in police presence, surveillance, and coordinated community engagement initiatives.

The aim is to prevent any potential breach of peace. In a recent incident, a distress call was received at the Batagarawa Divisional Police Headquarters regarding an ongoing protest over an alleged blasphemy.

The protest resulted in the burning of the suspect’s residence and vehicle. However, swift action was taken by mobilizing officers to the scene, effectively diffusing the tension and minimizing further damage. The command is urging anyone with information related to the incident to come forward and assist in the ongoing investigation.
