Prof. Prince Mmom, the Commissioner of Education in Rivers, has resigned from the state government, following in the footsteps of several others.
Mmom revealed this in a letter to the governor on Thursday in Port Harcourt, which was sent via the Secretary’s office to the Rivers State Government (SSG).
Mom stated in his letter that he was resigning for personal reasons.
For personal reasons, I hereby resign from my position as Rivers State’s Commissioner of Education.
“I would like to convey my heartfelt gratitude to you for providing me with the chance to work in your administration and wish you the best as you continue to lead the government of our beloved state,” the letter said.
According to PlatinumPost, Prof. Zaccheaus Adangor, the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, also tendered his resignation earlier on Thursday.
In a similar vein, several commissioners, including Mrs. Inime Aguma, the Commissioner for Social Welfare, had quit from the State Executive Council.
The others are Isaac Kamalu, the Commissioner of Finance; Dr. Kelly George, the Commissioner of Works; and Mr. Chukwuemeka Woke, the Governor’s Chief of Staff.
The political dispute between Governor Siminalayi Fubara and Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike is not unrelated to the mass resignation.
