Alex Otti, a candidate for governor on behalf of the Labour Party in the election for governor of Abia State on Saturday, has expressed outrage over alleged attempts by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to rig the vote in four local government areas.

According to results that have been posted thus far, Otti said that the Labour Party is leading in the polls and urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to act promptly to guarantee that the right thing is done.

This was spoken late on Saturday night by a former top banker who voiced optimism for his election victory.

“Labour Party won by a landslip,” he claimed, referring to nearly all the results that were uploaded and made public. Regrettably, some of the results have been denied to stand by the PDP administration, who is doing this actively with the assistance of certain corrupt INEC staff and some security personnel.

“The LG in question includes Obingwa, where the former governor is from, Osisioma, Aba north, and Aba south, where we won well.

Obingwa is a highly fascinating situation since, with the active complicity of INEC, the BIVAS was not utilised in most of the wards, and they are working to promote bogus results.

To guarantee that the right thing is done in Abia state, I want to take this opportunity to appeal to the Federal government and in particular the INEC chairman. Thus I assume that any outcome that is not the result of BIVAS accreditation will not be acceptable.

I implore the INEC chairman to convince the INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner for Abia and other INEC officials to support peace and uphold justice.
