In 10 Local Government Areas (LGAs), Dr. Alex Otti, the Labour Party’s (LP) candidate for governor in Abia State, continues to have a sizable lead in the March 18 governorship election.
Otti is in the lead according to the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) preliminary findings.
Otti received 66,024 votes in total to maintain his lead, according to the figures given by the various Local Government Collation Officers on Sunday at the State Collation Centre at INEC’s headquarters in Umuahia.
A total of 52,849 votes were cast for his nearest opponent, Chief Okey Ahiwe of the governing Peoples Democratic Party, or PDP.
At the time this report was filed, there were still seven LGAs for which results were not yet available.
