Major Hamza Al-Mustapha (retd), the previous Chief Security Officer to General Sani Abacha, has urged Nigerian youths to use their voter cards in order to remove corrupt leaders from power.

At the SDP’s commemoration of International Youth Day Celebration 2024 in Abuja on Monday, Al-Mustapha gave a speech.

Accusations were made by Al-Mustapha that politicians are out of touch with the populace.

According to him, the LG system was crippled because those in charge were not linked to the villages and lacked knowledge of how councils and local governments functioned previously.

“Each one of you present here possesses a powerful tool – your fingers, which serve as weapons for casting votes. If we fail to utilize them and safeguard our fundamental right, whom could we hold accountable? Rigged elections are the result of individuals manipulating outcomes where they lack support. However, if each person casts their vote and collaborates towards its protection, nobody will tamper with it. The end of electoral rigging has brought about great happiness.”

The sight of millions of young people protesting on the streets might lead one to believe that the world is about to end. The injustices prevalent in Nigeria are hindrances we cannot bear any longer, as they have contributed significantly to our current state.
