The Act creating the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) will be reviewed, according to the Senate.

Godswill Akpabio, the president of the Senate, revealed this while remarking that the EFCC was more of a prosecuting organisation than a prosecuting organisation.

On the Senate floor on Wednesday, Akpabio made this disclosure as Olu Olukayode and Mohammed Hamajoda were confirmed as Chairman and Secretary, respectively, of the EFCC.

Akpabio described his ordeal and claimed that during the run-up to the general elections in 2023, he was the focus of political opponents.

Olukoyede and Halima are confirmed by the Senate to lead the EFCC and the NSIPA.

He said a false petition was filed against him, and in response, he wrote to say he would not reply. However, the former chairman of the EFCC released his private letter “with the stamp of the EFCC to an online news platform, Sahara Reporters.”

I don’t want to discuss about the EFCC, Akpabio declared. The (EFCC) Act will be strengthened and the agency’s efficiency increased as soon as we wield the gavel in these chambers.
