Akpabio provides reasons for Nigerians’ lack of trust in APC, PDP, and other parties
According to Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Nigerians’ mistrust of political parties is a result of both impunity and a lack of responsibility.
Repositioning the parties, Akpabio pointed out, will aid in regaining the public’s faith and confidence in them.

The Senate President emphasised that political parties had contributed to the improvement of Nigeria’s policies and governance while speaking at an event hosted by the Kukah Centre in Abuja. The Senate President was represented by Senator Victor Umeh of Anambra Central.
Political parties, he added, have given Nigerians a forum to engage in the democratic process, and it would be negligent of Nigerians to ignore the problems that have tarnished the nation’s democratic culture.
There is now less public trust and confidence in political parties as a result of these problems.
“Seeing citizens lose faith in the very institutions that are supposed to uphold their democratic rights and represent their interests is depressing.”
