Senate President Godswill Akpabio expressed his commitment to enhancing the policing system in Nigeria during the Nigeria Police Awards and Commendations Ceremony in Abuja.
He assured Vice President Kashim Shettima and the audience of the National Assembly’s unwavering support and cooperation towards improving the security and well-being of Nigerian citizens through a well-equipped and motivated police force.
Akpabio emphasized the importance of providing the necessary legislative framework and resources to enable the police to effectively carry out their duties.

He commended the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, for organizing the event and urged the entire leadership of the Nigeria Police Force to celebrate their achievements and continue working together for a safer and more secure Nigeria.
The Senate President highlighted the significance of recognizing the efforts of individual police officers, motivating them for higher performance, and reinforcing the new policing agenda focused on ethical regeneration, professional standards restoration, and anti-corruption enhancement.
Akpabio acknowledged the challenges faced by the police in Nigeria due to the evolving nature of crime and the sophistication of criminal gangs, emphasizing the need to address these obstacles while ensuring the removal of any corrupt elements within the force.
