Akpabio Pledges Living Wage for Workers on May Day
The President of the Nigerian Senate, Godswill Akpabio, has given his assurance to Nigerian workers that both the National Assembly and the Executive will collaborate to improve their living wage and working conditions.
This affirmation was made in a statement released by Mr Eseme Eyiboh, the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the Senate President, in Abuja on Wednesday.
Akpabio praised the exceptional qualities exhibited by Nigerian workers, highlighting their patriotism, hard work, resilience, and dedication to their duties.
He expressed his delight in being associated with Nigerian workers for the past 25 years, emphasizing that their spirit resonates profoundly wherever they go.
Akpabio further emphasized that the National Assembly, under his leadership, is fully committed to ensuring the best possible working conditions for Nigerian workers.

He vowed that no worker would be subjected to inhumane conditions again, as every effort would be made to provide them with the best because they truly deserve it.
Akpabio acknowledged the relevance of the theme, “Ensuring safety and health at work in a changing climate,” and assured that Nigeria would not be left behind in adhering to international best practices.
Akpabio also stated that the 10th National Assembly is dedicated to enacting laws that protect the interests of Nigerian workers, creating a conducive working environment and ensuring a reasonable salary that allows them to sustain their livelihoods.
He extended his wishes for a happy International Labour Day on behalf of the Senate, the entire National Assembly, and his own family.
This reaffirms the commitment of the Nigerian government to prioritize the welfare and rights of its workers.
