Akpabio grieves for Adeyemi, the late Tribune Senate Correspondent
Alhaji Tijani Adeyemi was the Senate Correspondent for Tribune Newspapers, and Senate President Godswill Akpabio expressed astonishment and sadness over his passing.
The Senate President mourned that Adeyemi’s passing has deprived the country of one of the wealthiest custodians of the institutional memory of the National Assembly in a statement released on Thursday, October 5, 2023, through his Special Adviser for Media and Publicity, Hon. Eseme Eyiboh.
The Senate President reportedly wrote to the widow, Alhaja Mamunat Adeyemi, saying, “Though your husband and I were not particularly close, my information is that he was a very peaceable and gentle in all his dealings.
“To his colleagues, he was a very dedicated journalist whose assiduous devotion to duty made him one of the National Assembly’s most well-known reporters.
According to what I’ve been told, he is qualified to hold the title of “doyen” of the National Assembly Press Corp. because he has covered the Fourth National Assembly since shortly after it was founded.
“Although he has worked for a variety of organisations across the media landscape, from broadcast to print, it was his remarkable record in legislative reporting that led the numerous organisations he worked for to post him to the National Assembly.
“His rich flair in legislative reporting and institutional memory of the National Assembly will be much missed.
I ask God to comfort you and your four children on behalf of my distinguished colleagues.
I join you in offering prayers for his soul’s peace in Aljannah Friddaus.
