The Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, has sent a strong warning to all government Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) about breaking laws and resolutions passed by the Senate.
Akpabio underlined the Senate’s dedication to preserving the rule of law during a National Workshop on Legislative Compliance in Abuja on Tuesday. Akpabio was represented by Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin.
Additionally, he stressed how crucial it is that MDAs follow Senate resolutions.
The training, which was conducted in association with Green Mount Consulting Ltd., covered the necessity of legal compliance for fostering democracy and guaranteeing sound governance.
According to Akpabio, it is unethical to disregard Senate resolutions since doing so jeopardises the basis of the nation’s democracy.
He emphasised the Senate’s commitment to carrying out its duty and asked MDAs to adhere to Senate decisions in their entirety.
The leader of the Senate, Sen. Opeyemi Bamidele, emphasised the value of legislative compliance and how it helps preserve the rule of law in democracies.
He emphasised that senators must follow their own decisions and that the legislative compliance committee is in charge of making sure that compliance is maintained.

The Senate Committee on Legislative Compliance’s Chairman, Sen. Garba Maidoki, reiterated the 10th Senate’s dedication to tackling compliance-related concerns.
He underlined how crucial it is to collaborate with MDAs in order to increase the nation’s adherence to laws and resolutions.
Sen. Ayogu Eze repeatedly emphasised the compliance committee’s crucial function and urged its members to develop a plan to improve the nation’s legal compliance.
He emphasised that Nigeria could prosper if the proper steps were done.
He claimed that the Senate’s caution to MDAs delivered a strong message that upholding the law was crucial to the advancement of the nation.
According to NAN, the workshop’s objectives are to enhance compliance with National Assembly legislation and resolutions and to fortify the executive and legislative branches’ relationship.
